The 52nd Annual Hunt Country Stable tour will be held this weekend, May 28-29, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you missed purchasing tickets in advance, you can still get them at any stop on the tour for $25. For more information, click here.
Every year, for one weekend, the horses of Middleburg and Upperville, Virginia, kindly open the doors of their stables to visitors.
Horse lovers anticipate this event the way shoe lovers anticipate a Manolo Blahnik sample sale.
We look at them
and they look at us.
When you're through rubbing velvet noses with the horsey-set, Boxwood Winery, designed by Hugh Newell Jacobsen, is offering tours as well.
Rita and John Kent Cooke hired Washington, D.C.-based Hugh Newell Jacobsen to design Boxwood Winery, located on a National Historic Landmark property, and one of Virginia’s earliest horse farms.
Mr. Jacobsen designed the winery with his characteristic modern feel, but chose materials- fieldstone, seam metal roofs and cupolas, typical of 18th century rural Virginia.

Oh dear! My dear friend Brooke at Velvet and Linen steered me to your blog!
There is a possibility I may not leave my computer until I have read all of your posts!
You are part of the cream that rises to the top!
Fantastic! (And I have read only two posts! )
The Navy Seal had me sobbing. In a very good way. We all need to be continually reminded who is fighting for us. And who they are.
Thank you!
Thanks so much for visiting. I was humbled and inspired when I read about this man's life. His kindness and bravery and integrity was a credit to himself and his family, to the Navy and to the United States.
Likewise, the memorial day post was very touching. I have profound respect and gratitude for men and women in service.
And I also read through your whole blog in one night. What a wonderful vacation I just had!
As for this post, I lived in Virginis for 23 years and ride myself, though I confess I much prefer western. How did I not know about this wonderful tour? Thank you so much for a wonderful blog!
