Darling, There's a Giraffe in the Hallway

Just two random treats for Monday.  One of my favorite photographs by Helen Knorr

and a surprisingly cool video:  4,000 years of style in 4 minutes...

Have a great day!

A Giraffe AND that once threatened species, the Eastern Bluebird! They look safely protected.

Cool video! I think I'll try and reinvent my look :)

OHHHHHHHH! That baby giraffe in the hall!! One of my favorite photos of all time!

The Santa Barbara zoo bought a young female giraffe from the San Diego Zoo some months ago; (they can't be full-grown because it is dangerous to transport them) The zookeeper went in on a Sunday morning; and low and behold, there was a baby giraffe! No one knew she was pregnant; and she was too young to know how to care for it. The zookeepers slept with it every night and day for months! Bottle feeding it, and it is now with the rest of the giraffes! For the first few weeks, they didn't announce it because often they don't make it!

Wonderful story!

Oh dear Lord! I missed the bluebird!

We have western bluebirds here in Santa Barbara! But it is correct these birds have been saved by nest boxes......Eastern bluebirds and Western bluebirds!

I was sitting at our table one day...(right after we built our house) and my daughter brought Poppy..my granddaughter..bluebirds were taking mealworms from my hands! They would notify me at the windows!! (when they were hungry! Honestly! display flying about the windows!)

My daughter said....."Yikes! I am watching Snow White! Mom! You are Snow White!!"

remember that scene? the bluebirds were doing just that. The first generation of babies.....stick around.......and they help the parent bluebirds feed the second group of nestlings. I watched it. It was a beautiful thing to see!
We have nest boxes from

Heaven can't be better.
