Early May at Poplar Grove. The fountain in the patio garden is bordered by English box, with Sulphur Heart ivy ringing the fountain base.
Amethyst Falls wisteria climbs the colonade. The golden boxwood is Wanford Page.
Clivia Miniata in full recovery from winter indoors.
The Yellowwood tree bloomed for the first time since we planted it 10 years ago. The flowers are fragrant and spectacular, especially when the tree is in full bloom. Worth waiting for!
The upper vegetable garden was inspired by a Williamsburg pattern, with four quadrants separated by crushed clam shell paths, around a central circular bed. This section contains varieties of lettuce. A trained apple arches over the steps leading to the lower kitchen garden.
Papaver Bracteatum in the kitchen gardens. We have several varieties of poppies and other flowers for cutting.

I can almost smell the sweet fragrance of the air in these beautiful photos.
So lovely. Do you have problems with deer or rabbits eating your lettuces?

Now this is just perfectly beautiful and useful. Just gorgeous.
Happy Wednesday.

Hi Karen, Thanks for coming by! Great question. Deer have been a constant challenge here from day one. Not only what they eat, but they also rut on the trees. We also find a lot of deer ticks, and friends and neighbors and their dogs have contracted Lyme disease. The Kitchen garden was the first to be surrounded by 8' deer fencing. Initially it is hard to break their pattern of travel, but once they know it's there, they leave it alone. Best Regards, Parker
These are such beautiful pictures of your yard. I hope it all survived all the rain! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
